What motivated you to become a Pathologist?

Becoming a Medical Technologist whet my appetite for gaining an understanding of the disease mechanisms that manifest with abnormal laboratory results. My pursuit of a doctorate in Pathology fueled my ambitions to explore and research the pathophysiology and pathogenesis of diabetes and stroke, which remain my areas of interest.

What do you love most about Loyola Pathology?

The department faculty are constantly in teaching and mentoring mode. That forces us to stay abreast of new developments as we collectively form the laboratory directors of our tomorrows.

What is one thing people may not know about you?

My expertise in the kitchen extends beyond my home, as I serve as a sous chef for a soup kitchen that serves our traditional Italian dishes to feed hundreds of the hungry and homeless in the North Lawndale community of Chicago at My Brother's Kitchen, a mission started by my uncles and currently run by my cousins and me, and staffed with family and friends who volunteer their time.
